What research says about strategy implementation

Research shows that a large share of implementation efforts fail. Robin Speculand’s research measured strategy implementation success in terms of achieving strategic objectives — implementations where at least half of the objectives were met were considered successful. At this threshold, 48 % of strategies failed. When the threshold was raised to two-thirds success, the failure rate climbed to 85 %.
